A recent series of studies have shown incredible effects of a Chinese herbal medicine combination in the prevention of osteoporosis. Researchers looked at hormone deficient rats (a menopause model of osteoporosis), rats that had bone loss due to inflammation (an immunological model of osteoporosis) and rats that were tail suspended (a model of greatly reduced activity and infirmary).
In all of these models, Chinese herbal medicine was shown to prevent or reverse osteoporosis.
In other words, if you are menopausal, have any kind of autoimmune or inflammatory disease, or are sedentary, Chinese herbal medicine may not only help you prevent osteoporosis, but reverse it if you already have it.
Furthermore, the pharmaceutical preparations that are given for osteoporosis can have horrible side effects such as osteonecrosis of the jaw (meaning parts of your jaw bone die and you may need it surgically removed).
Some of the diseases that can cause osteoporosis include:
Chinese herbal medicine is very safe and side effects are few. If they occur, they are easily identified and reversed (assuming you know what to look for). One of the biggest issues with herbal medicine is making sure your sources are good. For example, at our clinic we use pharmaceutical grade herbs that have been tested for heavy metals, pesticides, parasites and so forth and that ensure the correct species of herb is being used.
